Another parenting book comes out every day. And, of course, family and friends and people who don’t have children offer all sorts of advice.
But golden parenting guidance can come from the most unexpected of people.
Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway, mother to Jonathan, 2 ½, with husband Adam Shulman, picked up on the admirable actions of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
“They get down on the child’s level and speak to them eye to eye to make their child feel empowered,” Hathaway, 36, told The Sunday Times Style magazine. “I thought that was really cool. I started doing that with Jonathan.”
Prince William and Kate Middleton are frequently caught crouching as they speak to their children at eye-level. They do the same with other children as they travel abroad.
Hathaway, who played a royal in “The Princess Diaries” movies and confirmed that a third movie is in the works, will do whatever it takes to bring her son up right. She revealed in January that she gave up drinking for his sake. She told Ellen DeGeneres she plans on staying sober for the next 18 years.
“I’m going to stop drinking while my son is in my house just because I don’t totally love the way I do it and he’s getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the mornings,” she said. “I did one school run one day where I dropped him off at school, I wasn’t driving, but I was hungover and that was enough for me. I didn’t love that one.”
